On Friday evening at The Rayleigh Mill, the first Castle Point and Rochford Jack Petchey Awards Evening took place. Eight out of ten secondary schools were represented. The evening was opened by Danielle Blackburn in Year 9 performing a breathtaking rendition of "Crazy".

Only two successful "Leader Awards" were secured in the area last year and Miss Geoghegan (Former Advanced Skills Teacher in English) was one of the recipients. This was for the Boys Into Literacy Programme that Miss Geoghegan set up to encourage Year 8 boys to read and enjoy books.

The Jack Petchey Awards programme has gone from strength to strength at the Academy and it is such an excellent way to celebrate and praise our students' many successes and their outstanding contribution to the Academy.
