Further congratulations to the girls who are now both District Champions and Essex Champions, having beating all the local schools in the area in the district competition and Brentwood County High in the Essex competition.

Congratulations to the U14 netball team who took part in the National Netball Finals at Gloucester Park.  Unfortunately the girls were not placed but they all battled so hard in their matches in spite of adverse weather conditions and competitors who were much taller than they were!

The standard of the games was exceptional, and the girls showed why they deserved a place in the finals, with some outstanding play in both the attack and the defence. The girls looked every bit the part with their new kit and dresses, to which they were very proud to play in. They would like to thank the sponsors for the kit; the Greensward Charitable Trust and The Academies Enterprise Trust.

Miss Hayes and Miss Hunt who have managed and trained the team commented that, “we could not be prouder of the girls, they have achieved something that has never been done at the academy, and represented Greensward superbly.  This was the highest standard of Netball that they could ever play and they didn’t look out of place at all.  They were brilliant and deserve to be satisfied with all they have achieved”.

Mrs Clarke- Irons commented on the competition, ‘there were some outstanding performances where the team fought hard in every game and didn’t let their opponents get the better of them’.

However, this did not daunt them and they have picked up where they left off by winning the semi-finals of the Essex Cup competition on Tuesday, securing their place in the finals next week.  They are also now District Champions easily beating all the local schools in the area at the competition on Wednesday.  We wish them continued success – who will stop them?
