U14 Netball Success

posted 19 Nov 2015, 01:32 by Shirley Wheeler

On Sunday 15 November the U14  netball team (Rebeka Thompson, Lauren Smart, Amy Peacham, Elizabeth Cross, Hollie Cox, Jade Eastabrook, Samantha Wiseman, Evie Andrews, Isobel Hurdle, Abby Lockwood, Amy Nicholls and Leia Kinch) took part in the East Essex round of the National Schools Netball competition at New Hall School in Chelmsford.  To qualify for the Regional round the team needed to reach the final.  The challenge was a difficult one with tough opposition.  However, the team spirit and determination to succeed along with exceptional game play resulted in the following pool results: 10-3 Passmores, 17-4 Honywood, 13-4 Fitzwimarc, 7-2 Chelmsford High School, 9-5 Woodlands, 7-5 New Hall and 8-10 Colchester High School.

Reaching the semi-finals, having won the pool was an outstanding achievement but to go on and win the semi-final 14-6 against St Marks and then a victory in the final 8-5 against Brentwood School was a highly commendable accomplishment.

The whole team should be congratulated for their effort and commitment, we wish them much success in the Regional Competition 30 January!

The PE Department would like to thank all of the parents for their continued time and support to the girls, their encouragement and motivation is always a great help. We would also like to thank Mrs Thompson for her hard work to support with the coaching of the team and also Mrs A Hayes for again giving up her Sunday to score for the team.
