Greensward progressed to Round 5 of the U13 ESFA Playstation National Cup with a comprehensive 7-2 win over East Bergholt High School.

In pouring rain and driving wind, Greensward fell behind to an early goal from a long-range shot that exploited the slippery surface. Within a minute, the boys immediately hit back with a sublime finish from outside the box from Frankie Aston.  Aston put Greensward back into the lead having won a clear cut penalty and captain Oliver Coker stretched the lead to 3-1 with a trademark free kick from distance. EBHS fought back and pressed hard for the goal that would get them back into the game but they were caught out on the break by some superb 'pass and move' football that lead to a tap in for Adam Graves.   Half-time and Greensward led 4-1.

In the 2nd half, a commanding display of Total Football created a 5th for Billy Cheevers after great work down the right wing by the tireless Josh McGrath. Tristan Ogunfuwa made it 6-1 with an emphatic finish before Cheevers added the seventh with another stylish turn and shot. The only blot on the copy book was a soft consolation for East Bergholt with practically the last kick of the game.

Jack Cooper and William Thresher both put in superb performances at the heart of the Greensward defence but this really was a complete team performance.

Huge thanks to the parents who made the long journey up the A12 and endured the torrential rain.

The draw for the next round takes place on Monday 23 November with local schools St. Thomas More and Shenfield High School still in the competition.
