During the March break, Mrs Conran arranged a trip to New York for 36 students also accompanied by Mr Middleton, Mr Beddow, Ms Vale and Mr Benson. The students had a fantastic time and were fabulous in their enthusiasm for all they saw. The five day trip was action-packed with the usual tourist hotspots seen such as the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Empire State Building, Rockerfella Plaza, Times Square as well as fitting in a Broadway show (Sister Act), a movie tour by night and behind the scenes at the historic Music Hall. We also visited the 9/11 Memorial, a sombre moment.
In addition we had a tour and explanation of marketing concepts in Macey’s department store, a tour of The Federal Reserve Bank of New York, which also included a trip into the vaults to see the gold and explanation of the monetary policy! We also squeezed in a walking tour of the Financial District, some shopping time and a meal in Little Italy. We took the subway up town and down town and felt like true New Yorkers as we had breakfast in a diner every morning, finishing off the trip with a meal at the Hard Rock Café. The art students amongst the group took the opportunity to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
We all came home truly exhausted with very tired feet and beaming smiles!
