The bright lights of the Big Apple beckoned Greensward Sixth Form students recently when a group of 42 descended on the city for a 5 day visit. As one of the most recognisable metropolis' in the world, many commented that, although it was their first visit to the "gateway of the free world" it all felt strangely familiar. Despite one of the coldest winters in recent memory, the students embraced a jam packed programme which took in all the sights including the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building and Macy’s, the biggest department store in the world.
For many, the highlight was seeing their first NBA Basketball match in Brooklyn, whilst for others the chance to watch Matilda on Broadway is something that will stay with them for years to come. Residing in a hotel minutes from Times Square, we really were in the thick of the action, and it soon became clear why New York is known as the city that never sleeps.
